This course is a 5-hour video course curated from a conference hosted by Bethlehem College and Seminary. This course is designed to give learners a bigger picture of the aims and efforts of missions. Missions is not just a task to take the gospel farther abroad, but it includes a variety of dimensions and characteristics. Learners are encouraged to watch the videos and to continue their study using one of the many recommended books in the following sections.

John Piper is founder and teacher of desiringGod.org and chancellor of Bethlehem College & Seminary. For over 30 years, he served as senior pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, and studied at Wheaton College, Fuller Theological Seminary (BD), and the University of Munich (DTheol). For six years, he taught Biblical Studies at Bethel College in St. Paul, Minnesota, and in 1980 accepted the call to serve as pastor at Bethlehem. John is the author of more than 50 books and more than 30 years of his preaching and teaching is available free at desiringGod.org. John and his wife, Noël, have four sons, one daughter, and twelve grandchildren.

Zane Pratt is the Associate Professor of Christian Missions at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and serves as vice president for Global Training at the International Mission Board. Previously, Zane had served as dean of the Billy Graham School. From 1991-2011, he was a church planter and regional leader in Central Asia through IMB. His experience includes church planting and pastoring in New England and serving as an Army Reserve chaplain. Zane is co-author of Introduction to Global Missions and a contributor to Theology and Practice of Mission, both published by B&H Academic.

Mark Dever serves as the senior pastor of Capitol Hill Baptist Church and president of 9Marks in Washington, DC. He is the author of many books most notably Nine Marks of a Healthy Church and most recently Discipling: How to Help Others Follow Jesus. Mark received his PhD in Ecclesiastical History from Cambridge University. He holds a ThM from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, a MDiv, summa cum laude, from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, and a BA, magna cum laude, from Duke University. He and his wife Connie live and minister on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. They have two adult children.

Thabiti Anyabwile is one of the pastors for Anacostia River Church. He has served as an elder and pastor in churches in NC, DC and the Cayman Islands. After a few years as a practicing Muslim, Thabiti was converted under the preaching of the gospel in the Washington, DC area. He and his wife, Kristie, have three children. Thabiti is the author of several books, including Reviving the Black Church; The Life of God in the Soul of the Church; The Gospel for Muslims; What Is a Healthy Church Member?; The Decline of African-American Theology; and The Faithful Preacher. He blogs regularly at The Front Porch and Pure Church.
